Sophie Wright

Cultural & Print Room Director at Magnum Photos

Sophie Wright has worked as Cultural & Print Room Director for Magnum London since 2003, where she manages a department whose activity spans cultural commissions, exhibitions, books and print sales. Significant recent projects include Magnum Contacts with Thames & Hudson (2011), Now Is The Time, a collaborative global commission between Magnum Photos, Kram Weisshaar & Boston Consulting Group (2013) and A Portrait of Marrakech - a commission and pop up exhibition with curator Simon Njami & The Museum of Photography and the Visual Arts, Marrakech (2013).

She oversees strategy & programming for the Magnum Print Room, including a number of significant institutional acquisitions and most recently the setting up of Magnum's Collectors Circle. She is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Photography & Culture and Board of the Belfast Photography Festival and writes and lectures on photography, contributing to Magnum's education programme and magazines such as Foam, C Photo, British Journal of Photography and Photoworks. She holds a BA in Modern History from Oxford University & MA in History of Art from The Courtauld Institute, London.
